Watch Ore. Officer Narrowly Escape Vehicle Pinning Him on Snowy Road

Dec. 29, 2021
A Tigard police officer leaped to quickly avoid an out-of-control vehicle that nearly struck him as he was helping a driver stranded in the middle of a snow-covered overpass.

Body camera footage captured a scary moment for an Oregon police officer who narrowly avoided being pinned between two vehicles during a traffic call.

The incident happened as a Tigard police officer was helping a driver whose vehicle was disabled in the middle of an overpass Dec. 26, the department stated in a social media post

"You're going to get hit, sitting here," the officer can be heard telling the driver in the video footage.

As the officer tries to help the motorist, another vehicle begins sliding out of control toward him. The officer quickly jumps out of the way and narrowly escapes being pinned between the two SUVs.

No one was injured in the incident, and the officer can be heard in the video calling for traffic assistance as more vehicles drive by.

"With freezing temps and the potential for more winter weather over the next day or two, it's a reminder of the dangers first responders face out there," the department stated. "Please take it slow and watch out for potential slick spots!"
